Small Paintings

A collection of work 16 X 20 inches or smaller.

These small works are usually executed alla prima, “at first attempt”, or in several quick sessions. The portfolio includes both plein air paintings and studio works made from reference sketches, photographs, and previously executed paintings.

Smaller paintings are painted as explorations of color or composition on a variety of supports including canvas, cradled wood panel, paper, or cardboard. In some instances, details for larger paintings to work out textures, color and mark making, or composition and color studies are prepared in anticipation of larger more formal concepts.

All small works are ready to hang in your home and can be displayed in groupings of multiple works, or added to your gallery wall.
